Raggamuffin – Constructed by D Nisbet B.Sc, BCS, CEng

1977 – Van de Stadt 36 Seal Plans drawn

1982 – David’s visit to Holland. View similar hull.

1983 – Drawings purchased

1993 – Hull constructed

1997 – Zeehond Class as yet unnamed. Survey 13th June. Launched 15th July.

1998 – HM Customs & Excise (registered VAT paid)

1999 – Ashore for completion of interior joinery

2002 – Relaunched

2003 – Ashore. December survey.

2004 – Registered owner GL Britten 26th February

 

Construction:

1982 – Engine purchased. Ford 6 cylinder.

1985 – First delivery of sheet steel. 2 RSJ’s

1986 – Steel work. Engine marinised by Lancing Marine.

1987 – Steel work.

1988 – David moved house with keel and cockpit. All parts stored at mother’s house for 3 months

1989 – David stopped work for about 2-3 years due to high interest rates and Nigel Lawson !

1992 – Fit out

1993 – Steel work, brackets, coatings, timber

1994 – Steel work, coatings, pipework

1995 – Timber work. Compass

1996 – Fit out. Light fittings. Timber

1997 – Purchased sails. Zeehond Class as yet unnamed. Survey 13th June. Raggamuffin launched 15th July. Sailed.

1998 – HM Customers & Excise (registered VAT paid). Sailed.

1999 – Ashore for completion of interior joinery

2000 – Interior fit out

2001 – Interior upholstery

2002 – Relaunched April

2003 – Ashore. Survey December

2004 – Registered owner GL Britten. Bill of sale dated 26th February.

Refit and Additions by George Britten :-

2004 – Ashore Burnham-On-Crouch. Copper coat paint. Fuel Hoses replaced. New LED Light fittings. New rigging.

2005 – Stainless steel construction on stern to house fenders, solar panel, life raft, outboard motor, wind generator, radar. Wiring for Solar Panel. Wind Generator. Plotter/Solar. New radar. Sails recut. Boom adjusted. Fibreglass coach roof made. Teak deck re corked. Dodgems. Winch covers. Relaunch Burnham-on-Crouch. Hoo Marina on trott mooring. Brighton Marina in October.

2006 – New Waste pump system

2007 – Copper coating painting (April). Rigging adjusted. Engine calibre.

 

Sadly and tragically on 7th August George my husband died and myself Christine Britten became the registered owner of Raggamuffin.
